Second Media
It has become very clear that virtual worlds are a very good and interactive place to spread media. They can join and replace chatrooms and forums in avatar mode, and even serious publications can find themselves copied or useful in avatar.
While virtual worlds are a realm within the internet, which limits their use, they still have millions of savvy users and real economies larger than some 3rd world countries, traded in virtual money.
I have been to virtual churches, virtual businesses, virtual real estate agencies, [virtual estate?] virtual magazines, newspapers, virtual malls and cities, beaches, clubs, yes they DJ music, yes they can make some very amazing video.
This is an interactive media, and superactive media, that allows users to become more educated in depth about topics at their own choosing, which is vital to people's media and participation as citizens.
